In January of 1964, a handful of saints who did not belong to any particular churches, would gather in the upper room of a residential house on the street of Ellsworth Street in San Francisco California, to have prayer meetings. Among those in attendance at these prayer meetings were an elderly prayer warrior Eva Zacharian (Mother Eva), and a young Samoan married couple, Fa'avaina (Ina) Tilo and her husband Ta'afulisia (TK) Tilo.
During one of the prayer meetings, Mother Eva spoke a prophecy through the Holy Spirit that the Lord would give Ina a dream, and the Lord would speak and reveal something to Ina through the dream. After three months, the Lord would reveal the dream to Ina in March of 1964. In the dream that Ina saw as a colorful vision, the Lord showed her and her husband were in a dry pool that was filled with dead fish of many colors. In the vision her and her husband started to repair the pool, then as she looked up to the sky, rain started to pour and filled the pool to the top and the water brought to life the fishes of many colors. When Ina awoke from the dream, she felt the divine call for her and her husband to reach souls of many colors.
After many months of prayer meetings, all the saints prayed for a bigger place to gather for prayer meetings and worship. As God would have it, the owners of the Ellsworth house gave the saints an option-to-buy the home, which they bought the house. The garage basement floor of the house had ample room to accommodate more saints for prayer meetings and worship.
The men of this prayer group remodeled the basement floor, then chairs and a pulpit were purchased, and then February of 1965 the basement at Ellsworth Street was dedicated as The Voice Of Christ Full Gospel Church, as the vision and founding of the church was divinely inspired by the Voice Of Christ through revelation of dreams and prophecy. And as the dream and vision foretold, the Voice Of Christ church when dedicated that February of 1965, was filled with people of many races and nationalities. As founders of The Voice Of Christ Full Gospel Church, TK Tilo and Ina Tilo were also the initial pastors of the new church on Ellsworth.
In March of 1967 Ina and TK Tilo would move to American Samoa to continue THE VISION of reaching fishes of many colors. The Voice Of Christ church in San Francisco would continue to thrive under the anointing of God. But as the upper room of Ellsworth was too small to accommodate all the prayer warriors and worshippers, the garage was becoming too small for the increasing number of saints gathering in the Ellsworth basement church.
In 1969, two ladies of the Voice Of Christ, Iva Tilo and Manatua Uli, drove around the city looking for a bigger sanctuary to accomodate the congregation. They found an Assembly Of God church in San Francisco on Guerrero Street that was willing to share their sanctuary with the Voice Of Christ.
So in 1969, The Voice Of Christ moved from Ellsworth to the sanctuary at Guerrero Street. Soon after moving into the Guerrero sanctuary, the owners of the church sold the building to the Voice Of Christ where the Voice Of Christ Full Gospel Church San Francisco resides to this day.
All thanks and praise to God for His hand and guidance for establishing and moving in The Voice Of Christ Full Gospel Church.
Throughout the years, The Voice of Christ Full Gospel Church has been blessed by the leadership of faithful men of God who have served as senior pastors. With hearts surrendered to God and hands committed to His work, these pastors preached the Word, shepherded the people, and stood firm through challenges, victories, and change. Their obedience to God’s calling not only strengthened the church but helped establish a spiritual legacy that continues to impact generations.
We honor them—not only for the roles they held, but for the lives they lived, and the lasting example they left for those who now walk in their footsteps.
The Voice of Christ Full Gospel Church has always leaned on the strength, prayers, and steadfast support of our elders—especially the wisdom, faith, and leadership of the mothers of our church. These women have played a vital role in shaping the spiritual foundation of our ministry. Through seasons of growth and challenge, their presence has been a steady force—teaching, mentoring, interceding in prayer, and nurturing both young and old in the ways of the Lord.
Many of these great women of God have poured into our church with grace and humility, helping to cultivate a strong, family-oriented environment rooted in love, service, and devotion to Christ. Their legacy continues to inspire and guide us as we carry the vision forward.
